This is the layout of our trip to Del Grosso's for the family album. The journalling was tough for me, because I didn't want to sugar coat the day, saying how perfect it was - because it wasn't. Caleb refused to come with us, saying it would be too cold to get in the water (it wasn't) so he didn't want to come at all - he went to his dad's house instead. Duane had an attitude for most of the day because Logan got scared on the Tilt A Whirl with me and Abigail, yelling "I'm done, I'm done, I'm done" during the entire ride. He was perfectly safe and there wasn't anything I could do about it and it was pretty funny. Duane didn't appreciate my sense of humor so he ignored me and made rude comments the rest of the day, making it next to impossible for me to spend more time with the little ones. I tried to make the best of it with the older kids and still enjoyed spending time with them. I decided to include all this in the journalling. I think it makes for a much more meaningful layout. Because we all know that not everything worth remembering is perfect.

We took the kids to Del Grossos last month. Gabriel and Christian had a blast on lots of rides and really loved the water park. Abigail hung out with me a lot and I enjoyed getting to go on a bunch of rides with her. She even talked me into going on the Free Fall - which I did NOT enjoy. I kept my eyes closed the entire time. Never again. Thurman and Logan had a great time going on all the kiddie rides - I even talked them into going on the Tilt A Whirl (one of my faves). Thurman loved it and even went on a 2nd time. Logan, however, did not like it so much. He yelled "I'm done, I'm done, I'm done!" the entire time. Abigail and I laughed like lunatics! (Okay, it's not like I could get him off the ride anyway and he was of course, perfectly safe.) Duane - who has no sense of humor - didn't appreciate our having a laugh at Logan's expense. Unfortunately, his attitude remained the rest of the day. However, I still enjoyed my time with the kids!

This is Abigail's twelve-year-old layout. I have so much fun doing hers because I can use girly colors and accents! It gets challenging to do five boys' albums and the family album because I can't use feminine stuff! I am finishing up with the 8.5x11" layouts and moving to strictly all 12x12" layouts. For some reason, the smaller size albums and refills cost about three times as much and it's getting harder and harder to find layout ideas for that size page. Plus since I take so many photos and have so much to write about, the smaller pages just aren't giving me enough room to include everything I want to include.

I finally got these photos posted from last July. We got the little ones their very own "big boy beds". They are bunk beds, but since they wouldn't stay off the top bunk (even without the ladder), we were afraid someone would get hurt, so we ended up putting them both in their room as regular beds. Two of my older boys and a neighborhood friend who was spending the night decided it would be a good idea to sneak out of the house in the middle of the night and go wandering through Hagerstown. Of course, they knew it was against OUR rules (we last saw them going downstairs "to bed"), but what they didn't know is that it's also against the law (there is a 10pm curfew). They were terrified when cops came upon them, questioned them, frisked them and drove them home. Not fifteen minutes later, the doorbell rang again. It was the same cop (now she was REALLY unhappy) bringing Caleb home. He apparently knew the other boys had sneaked out and since he couldn't sleep, he figured he'd go out for a walk through Funkstown. We weren't too harsh on them as I think the police put the fear of God into them.

I can't believe it's been four months since I've posted a layout! I haven't been scrapping as much lately and I'm falling really far behind. The subject of this layout occurred when Logan and Thurman thought it would be fun to hold onto the office chair while running around, making it swivel. Until Thurman let go, making Logan lose his balance and fall into the corner of the wall, gashing the back of his head open. Several hours at the ER and two staples later, all was well again.

Caleb's bike chain locked up on him, causing him to crash and land on the asphalt - after hitting his mouth on the handle bars. I thought I could take care of it all, but the wound on his leg proved more than I could deal with at home. So we went off to Urgent Care where he ended up with (7) stitches. I know it hurt, but he was a trooper - and I enjoyed spending some extra time with him!

Our two little ones are completely obsessed with tractors. So when someone Duane works with offered to give him a free riding mower (with a broken mower), he jumped at it. It's perfect for him to ride the boys around on - their very own "tractor". No, Duane doesn't embarrass easily. But it is pretty cute that he's such a dedicated dad! He even bought a wagon to hitch to it for the bigger kids to ride in!

Both of our little ones ending up needing extensive dental work. They apparently inherited bad tooth genes from Duane's side of the family. None of my other kids have ever had tooth issues. We have to travel to Baltimore to have their teeth fixed under general anesthesia. As if the travelling and being at the hospital all day wasn't bad enough, we got a flat on the way home and were stuck on I-70 for 1 1/2 hours before the spare unjammed from its holding place under the truck! It was awful - screaming, tired, hungry kids who weren't feeling well. I don't care to repeat that again! But their teeth are beautiful now and healthy and that's all that matters!

We were outgrowing our house, so we decided to finish the basement to give us six total bedrooms. That way, each of the older kids could have their own space and the only ones who would have to share a room would be the two little ones. I was shocked when I took my 14 year old for his routine eye exam and was told he had a cataract! He had surgery to remove it along with a lens implant and recovered quickly. And even though he wasn't thrilled to have the surgery, he's glad he did because he can see a whole lot better now! I would have never thought to use these colors together, but I love how it turned out!

I did Thurman's "Little Devil" layout first and loved it so much, I did Abigail's Halloween page using the same layout but with different colors and elements. For Thurman's I again used Kristin Aagard Design's brand new kit called "Jailbird". Don't you love the horns, tail and pitchfork that came in the kit? Of course, Thurman isn't really a devil, but he does get into quite a bit of mischief and this layout is about a few particularly outstanding incidents. I saw this brand new kit by Kristin Aagard Designs this morning. It's called "Jailbird" and being that I have 5 boys (and 1 girl) who get into more than their fair share of mischief, I knew I couldn't pass this one up! I love Kristin's designs - they are always so adorable! I wasn't planning on redoing Christian's Halloween layout, but since he was dressed as a prisoner, I had to redo it using this kit!

This was a re-do of an earlier layout I did of Logan's pincer grip. It's so cute the way he picks up small things. It reminds me of lobster claws. I wasn't quite happy with the original layout and planned to redo it eventually. When I saw this adorable freebie kit from Mommy Me Time Scrapper and Mom's Unique Possibilities called "To the Sea", I knew it would be perfect for this layout. The colors are perfect for a boy layout and the lobster is just too cute!

Introducing our adorable new Pug, Riley! I have always adored Pugs and we were given the opportunity to adopt this sweet little boy. He turns three this month. Yep, he did it again! Just a couple weeks after getting 6 stitches to a nice gash on his leg, Thurman fell out of bed and ended up with 3 more stitches to his head! Thurman is going through that "language explosion" phase and is picking up new words every day - unfortunately, a couple of them aren't good words - wonder where he got those ones from? **pointing at hubby behind his back** I especially love how he says his siblings' names. I was doing The Love Dare challenge from the movie "Fireproof" and I came up with this layout to remind my hubby about the "fighting rules" we agreed to so that hopefully we will keep things from escalating to a damaging level. I printed it, we signed it, I framed it and then hung it on the wall in our room. I used a kit called "Celebrate Love" by Shel Belle Scraps.

PS - "The Love Dare" is an awesome book about love. Even if you don't want to do the daily challenges, the 40 days worth of devotional reading is more than worth the few dollars the book costs. Every chapter is just a few pages and it's all about love and marriage and gives new insights into both.

Duane and I both worked the 4th of July, so my mom and dad watched the kids for us. Thurman snuck into the shed behind Gabriel and cut his leg on something (we still have no idea what). He ended up getting six stitches! I left work to go be with him, but by the time I got there, he was all done. Mom said he did great. We had to change his bandage daily and he was fascinated by his "boo boo". When we went to get the stitches out, it was a different story. Two of them had become embedded in his skin and it took trips to 3 places before they finally were able to remove them. Yikes! I used a kit called "Let Freedom Ring" by Amy Stoffel. The fireworks are by Scraps by Jenn.

Abigail made this adorable hermit crab in school. She named it Shelly. One day, Abigail had the unfortunate urge to take Shelly out to eat with us. Abigail was frantic when she realized she threw Shelly in the garbage at Long John Silvers inside her meal box! Thank God for the nice LJS employees who rescued Shelly from certain death! Shelly is now safe and sound at home - where Abigail swears she will stay! For this layout, I used a brand new kit by Shanmomto4 Designs called "You Light up my Day".

I loved doing this layout! It's one of those unique, priceless memories that are so fun to scrapbook! This day, I was wondering what in the world Thurman was doing. He had dismantled Duane's shoe rack that's on our sun porch and was carrying it around the house making weird noises. It wasn't until he slid it under something and tried to lift it that I realized he was pretending to be a tractor! It was sooooo cute! Abigail's friend came over armed with water balloons. Unfortunately, they needed filled and it took awhile for us to figure out how to do it successfully. Yes, it took me a LOOOOONG time to come up with that title - LOL. I love these photos taken after Thurman had thoroughly enjoyed a chocolate cupcake.
